America’s local officials are providing exceptional leadership amidst the unprecedented triple crises: a global pandemic that laid bare chronic injustices in our country, economic devastation to business owners and workers, and uprisings in streets calling for the end of systemic and structural racism. Long-standing inequities in healthcare, finances, education, housing, nutrition and other human needs are root causes of the protests across the country. These inequities are revealed in those who suffer the most infections, illness and death from the coronavirus pandemic.
Local leaders across cities, towns and villages are distinctly positioned to protect the health and safety of their residents, to provide facts and safe practices during the pandemic, and to advance equity. The National League of Cities developed resources to support our members to address the COVID-19 outbreak in their community and to take measures to reduce its spread. These resources are based on what is currently known about COVID-19 and is continually updated as we learn more about the coronavirus.
View NLC’s carefully crafted and curated resources, which include a myriad of best practices, tools and supports on all the key issue areas relevant to cities, towns and villages.
